“Jacksonville Dolphins” is an original painting printed on canvas, fine art paper, or matte photo paper.

About the Artwork

"Jacksonville Dolphins" is an original painting by Carly Mejeur. Against a backdrop of cerulean blue water and a vast, cloudless sky the color of hope, two dolphins erupt from the sea in a joyous dance. Their sleek bodies, rendered in shades of charcoal and silver, gleam in the sunlight, capturing Carly's deep love for marine life and their conservation. Beneath the dolphins, a faded nautical map emerges from the water. Its intricate lines trace the coastline and mark the hidden depths of the surrounding ocean. This inclusion in "Jacksonville Dolphins" is not merely decorative; it's a powerful message about the delicate connection between marine life and the communities that share their coastal home. Carly creates her artwork to raise awareness of South Florida's marine conservation efforts. Natives feel proud to own a map of their home turf and are protective of the sea life they encounter regularly. Visitors enjoy bringing home a unique souvenir of where they met many of Florida's gems to be remembered and cherished. Visit Carly's Art Gallery to view more of her works. In the Press

Carly Mejeur is a Florida native artist. She was born and raised in South Florida. Blessed with a constant source of inspiration from her surroundings and hobbies, Carly strayed from her academic oil paintings of portraits and figures and began experimenting with watercolor and marine life. After an abundance of maps some how made their way to the Mejeur household from several friends in 2013, she took it as a cue to explore the medium. Her first Octopus, designed to fill an empty wall in her own home, became the official catalyst for the nautical chart series. "I knew that I wasn't the first to paint on maps and I won't be the last, but I wanted to bring something new to the concept by integrating the creatures with the chart to feel like they seamlessly belong, each piece presenting its own challenge. I use my painting of marine life to connect man-made lines and numbers with the organic composition of the islands and coastlines. Carly Mejeur hopes her artwork will bring more awareness to the marine conservation effort of South Florida.
