Robert's photography is based on an outside-the-box visualization, looking for a picture within a picture. His stylistic influencers are Georgia O’Keefe, the painter, and photographers Aaron Siskind, Harry Callahan, Weegee, Robert Mapplethorpe and Hiro. He remains fascinated with minimalism, but claims he is not necessarily a minimalist. Evidenced in his work is his interest in fractals, often revealing recursive patterns or smaller parts mirroring the larger parts. ​
